The Celebration Barn will present its Summer Finale at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1. Special guest performers include Drew “the Dramatic Fool” Richardson, Alisa “Plucky” Rosenthal, Shane and Collin Miclon, and others with physical comedy, incredible juggling, music, and lots of laughs.
Drew the Dramatic Fool reinvents the ancient art of brilliant bumbling inspired by a thousands-of-years old tradition of royal jesters, vaudeville eccentrics, silent film comedians, animated cartoons, theatrical clowns, and imperfect humans everywhere. He’s been seen at The Palace of Variety in Times Square, The Chicago Improv Comedy Club, The Boston Street Theater, The Waterfront Museum and Showboat Barge, and An Evening of Comedy and Theater in Motion at Circus Circus Reno.
Alisa Rosenthal performs and produces solo work as banjo- and ukulele-playing vaudeville-style comedian Plucky Rosenthal, the Jewish star of stage. A Chicago-based semi-finalist for the Andy Kaufman Award, Alisa has performed with such companies as Redmoon Theatre, Chicago Physical Theatre, Beast Women and Girlie-Q Productions.
Executive Director Amanda Huotari said, “This season we’ve hosted some stellar talent from all over the world. The Summer Finale is a chance to celebrate some of the freshest work to come out of the Barn this summer, with resident artists from everywhere from Buckfield to Bogota. This great lineup is sure to bring lots of fun surprises.”
