STARKS — Arborea, aka husband and wife, Buck and Shanti Curran, will perform on Saturday, Jan. 12, as part of the Community Concert Series at the United in Christ Presbyterian Church.
Shanti plays banjo, ukulele, banjo-dulcimer, guitar, percussion, harmonium and reversed music box. Buck plays electric, acoustic and slide guitar, flutes, banjo and bowed string. Both provide vocals and share songwriting and arrangement duties, deriving inspiration from Maine’s rugged, scenic land and seascapes.
Since 2007, Arborea has toured throughout the United States, United Kingdom and Europe, and released several full-length albums, including “Red Planet” which made Rolling Stone’s Best Under-the-Radar Albums list for 2011.
The folk duo will perform at 7 p.m. There will be a potluck community dinner at 6 p.m. Donations will be collected for the United in Christ Youth Group’s mission trip fund.
