Robotic kick-off pasta supper

JAY — The Spruce Mountain Area Robotics Team will hold its 2013 Season Kick-Off Event and Pasta Supper from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Jay Campus Cafeteria.

The team will be celebrating its success from the past season as well as anticipating the new one, sharing the new challenge the team will be working on for the next season.

Tickets are available at the door and are $5 per person and $15 per family. A pie auction will take place at 6:30 p.m.

During the 2011-12 season the team competed at the FIRST Regional Competition at WPI, where members earned the prestigious Rookie Award, and also at the FIRST World Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

Craft, social was held in Carthage

CARTHAGE — A free craft and social event for everyone was held Dec 8 at the Carthage Town Office building. Many children came out to enjoy decorating sleds, color pages, bowling and puzzles.

Also the children received goodie bags and a toy that was donated by McDonald’s of Rumford. Everyone that went to the event enjoyed snacks, drinks and socializing.

The Carthage Events would like to thank all the volunteers that made the event possible, as well as McDonald’s for their donation.

CODA resumes rehearsals Jan. 8

WINTHROP — CODA Chorus will begin rehearsals for the spring concert. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Winthrop United Methodist Church. New and returning members are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, to pick up music and to visit with other singers before rehearsal.

Free fish chowder lunch Wednesdays

FARMINGTON — A free fish chowder lunch will be held every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Jan. 9 to March 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road. All are welcome.

For further information call 778-4429. When local schools are canceled, so is the luncheon.
