MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1946 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Mexico Chicken Coop.

Seniors meet Jan. 16

PERU — The Neighborly Seniors will meet at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the old Peru School.

Dues for 2013 are payable at this time. Election of officers will be held with nominations from the floor. Only paid-up members can vote. A potluck lunch will follow.

Anyone 50 years and older may join. Dues are $10 a year.

Stephens High Class of 1963

MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1963 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Dick’s Restaurant. Classmates, family and friends are encouraged to attend and renew old acquaintances. For information call 364-8416.

Pancake breakfast set for Jan. 19

PERU — The Friends of Peru Elementary School are holding a pancake breakfast at the old Peru Elementary School, 30 Main St., from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.

All-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon or sausage, beverage. Adults $4.50; children 8 and under $2. Proceeds to benefit the Peru Community Center.

Voice of the Valley is Jan. 19

RUMFORD — Voices of the Valley, a vocal talent competition, will once again take place on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Mountain Valley High School. Auditions will begin at 11 a.m. with the show taking place at 6 p.m.

Participants must prepare two different songs; one for the audition and one for the show. Participants are asked to make a donation of $10 to register for the competition with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network.

Prizes will be awarded in youth, teen, adult and duet categories: $50 for second place and $100 for first place. Top prize of $100 will be given to the overall winner from the three first place winners after a sing-off.

Admission fee for the evening is $5 per person.

Sons of Italy change meeting

RUMFORD — Gorizia Lodge 467 of the Sons of Italy will change its monthly meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. because of the holiday. This meeting will be held at Mountain Valley High School, first entrance. All members are strongly encouraged to attend.

Red Hat Mommas to meet Jan. 30

RUMFORD — Twenty-six Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine attended an ugly Christmas sweater party on Dec. 12 at the United Methodist Church Virgin Memorial Chapel.

A Christmas story was read, birthdays were celebrated and a Christmas play was presented. A prize was given for the best decorated Christmas cookie. Gifts were given and Christmas carols were sung.

The group will meet for a spaghetti supper Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the United Methodist Church. For more information regarding the price and what to bring for a game, call Isabel by Friday, Jan. 25.

Dance Jan. 25 at Hope Association

RUMFORD — A dance at the Hope Association will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, featuring Joe “The Music Man” Sirois. Refreshments will be available.

Donations welcome. Money will be used to benefit the Special Olympics Program at Hope Association.

Savvy Caregiver Training starts

FARMINGTON/PARIS — SeniorsPlus announces Savvy Caregiver training scheduled to begin on Mondays starting Jan. 28 in Franklin and Oxford counties.

The training will help those caring for a family member with dementia to learn how to take care of themselves, reduce stress and also communicate more easily with the loved one. This is a six-week workshop, with each session lasting two hours.

Sessions will be held at DHHS Farmington, 114 Corn Shop Lane, Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or at DHHS South Paris, 243 Main St., Suite 6, Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m.
