LEWISTON — Veterans and family members of veterans are reminded to act without delay to have a name engraved on the 25th monument at Veterans Memorial Park.

A veteran must have an honorable discharge or have been discharged from the military with a general discharge under honorable conditions, according to Joseph Paradis, founder of the Veterans Memorial Park and now serving as a director on the L & A Veterans Council, representing the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

A veteran discharged from service with a dishonorable discharge cannot have his or her name on the monument.

To have a veteran’s name inscribed on the monument, the cost is $35 and separation papers DD form 214 are required. Contact Maurice Dutil, vice chairman, at 784-1206, or Paradis at 786-0488. Monument no. 25 will be unveiled May 25.
