Winter Carnival Giant Round Robin Table Tennis Tournament

BRIDGTON —   The 8th Annual Winter Carnival Giant Round Robin Table Tennis Tournament was held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Bridgton Town Hall as part of the Mushers Bowl. The event was well attended by 26 of the best players in Maine and New Hampshire participating in four classes of competition—-Open Classes “A”,”B”, and “C” plus Doubles. 

Class “A” was on by Sonu Bhatia of Westbrook, who went undefeated in all of his matches. Second place went to Jake Choi of S. Portland, Maine.

Class “B” was won by Irena Stepan of Gray. Irena has been Women’s Champion of Maine many times. Second Place in Class “B” was taken by Ryan Roux of Lee.

Class “C” was won by Jerry Bacon of North Yarmouth. Second place was taken by Hans Meutang of Dover, N.H.

 The “Doubles” Class was won by Jake Choi of South Portland and his partner Jifa Has of Scarborough. Second place in Doubles was taken by Sonu Bhatia of Westbrook and his partner Al Landry of Lewiston. Sonu and Al have taken many trophies in singles and doubles over the years.

Remember, we play Table Tennis every Saturday at the Bridgton Town Hall from 1-4PM.  We have an excellent facility with seven tables, paddles and balls. All people with a basic knowledge of the game are welcome to come and play.    FMI visit http://www.bridgtonmaine.org/res_recreation.php
