FARMINGTON — A Bingham man was given a summons on a charge of assault after police say he aggressively escorted a woman out of Front Street Tavern on Friday night.

According to witnesses, including tavern security, police say Richard Cusson, 40, used more force than necessary after he stepped in to help a female friend who was involved in a confrontation with another woman.

The victim of the assault was dancing and bumped into another woman on the dance floor.  She kept bumping into the same person, Farmington Police secretary Rachel Heseltine said.

Police say the incident went from a confrontation to a physical fight between the two women. Cusson, who was a friend of the woman who was bumped, decided he needed to step in, she said.

He apparently forced the other woman out of the bar. Based on the witness accounts, Farmington Officer Ryan Rosie gave him the summons for assault.

Police were called at 10:42 p.m. Friday to the Front Street business.
