LEWISTON — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options, recently announced that Jennifer K. Smith has joined the organization as senior health plan benefits analyst.
MCHO is a nonprofit organization that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014.
As senior health plan benefits analyst, Smith will be responsible for the flow of claims and benefits information. She will assemble client contracts, and coordinate provider demographics and reimbursements while working with the insurance claims processing system.
Prior to joining Maine Community Health Options, Smith worked in the information technologies department at Barber Foods. She has more than 15 years of claims experience, and has worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine, New York Life Care and Healthsource of Maine. More recently, she held an extended position at Martin’s Point Health Care working with the claims and finance systems.
Smith earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine, where she also received project management education.
