Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on April 1 were as follows: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings, 71 percent; second, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; third, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; first in B, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Winners on April 2 were: first/second tie, Rosemarie Goodwin and Luke Merry with Larry and Steve Kolkhorst; third, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; fourth, Sue Kaluzynski and Donna Bartlett; fifth, Hazel Glazier and Priscilla Rooth.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.

Pancake breakfast at St. Philip’s

AUBURN — A pancake breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, April 7, at St. Philip’s Church, Route 4, by Lake Auburn.

The menu includes sausage patties, fruit cup, muffins, sweet breads, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The cost is $6 for adults, $2 for ages 6 to 12, and free for children under 6.

The meal is sponsored by the Philipian Seniors.

Durham Masons plan bean supper

DURHAM — A Masonic bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Lodge, on Route 136 across from the River Park.

The prices are $7.50 for adults, $3 children ages 5-12, free for children under 5. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.

Knights plan bean supper

LISBON FALLS — Knights of Columbus Council 2358 will hold a bean supper from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Holy Trinity Church Parish Hall, 67 Frost Hill Ave.

The meal includes casseroles, beverages and desserts.

The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 4-11, free for children under 4, $18 for a family with children under 12.

Litchfield Legion bean supper

LITCHFIELD —A bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturdday, April 13, at Litchfield American Legion Hall, Plains Road.

Menu includes three kinds of baked beans, casseroles, hot dogs, cole slaw, pickles, homemade brown bread, rolls and desserts, coffee.

Donations will to toward sending five Oak Hill junior girls to Dirigo Girls State in June by the Auxiliary.

Heaven’s Blend concert April 13

POWNAL — The North Pownal United Methodist Church will host a concert by Heaven’s Blend from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the church, 851 Hallowell Road.

The concert will be presented in a coffee house format with light refreshments. Admission is free and there will be a free will offering. Proceeds benefit the church.

Dempsey self-care workshop

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free self-care workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Healing Your Inner Garden will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.

As you contemplate planting your vegetables and flowers, wellness educator Marcy Covey invites you to bring healing to your inner being through self-care, relaxation techniques and practicing inner peace and positive living.

Mechanics scholarships

AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank will continue its long-standing commitment to provide $17,000 in scholarships to high school graduates bound for college or technical school in the fall. The Banking on the Future Scholarship Program will award $1,000 to 17 high school graduates at 11 area high schools.

Scholarships are available to high school seniors at Edward Little, Lewiston, Saint Dominic, Leavitt, Lisbon, Monmouth, Oak Hill, Poland, Gray/New Gloucester, Brunswick and Windham. Applications are available at each school’s guidance office, at any Mechanics Savings Bank branch or at www.mechanicssavings.com. Applications must be submitted to the student’s high school guidance department by April 30.

Recipients will be selected by the guidance department at their high school and chosen based on their accomplishments in and out of the classroom and their service to others. Students must demonstrate service to school, community and/or family; involvement in extracurricular activities; academic success; and financial need.
