Craft demos, singing at Shaker Village
NEW GLOUCESTER — Free crafts demonstrations by the R & R Spinners and blacksmith Tim Greene will be given on Saturday, June 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26. The public is invited.
Shape note singing is one of the oldest American musical traditions and the public is invited to a free shape note concert and singalong to be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Shaker Village.
Marine Corps League to convene
AUBURN — The Marine Corps League, Central Maine Detachment 810, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at American Legion Post 31, Washington Street. The league is still trying to form a firing squad and color guard.
Short film to be shown at library
AUBURN — “Agenda 21,” a 21-minute video, will be shown at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Auburn Public Library.
The Ark to host programs on health
LEWISTON — A program, “Creating Healthy and Happy Families,” will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.
A series of discussions will cover topics such as building a family structure based on love, communicating with kids, creative conflict resolution, encouraging personal choices and responsibility and healthy lifestyle choices that promote a happy family.
“Natural Ways to Overcome Depression” will be led by Zack Mazone at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. Mazone will share natural ways to win the battle against depression.

Osteoporosis screening at CMMC
LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center Osteoporosis Center will host a free screening from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Conference Room I, located on the lower level of the 12 High St. medical office building.
The test involves a scan of one finger. Results are given immediately.
Qualifications for participating in screening are: Men or women over the age of 20; cannot be pregnant; have not had bone density scan within the past year; and not scheduled for a bone density scan.
No appointment is necessary.
Veterans’ monument replica on display
NEW GLOUCESTER — A full-size replica of the proposed New Gloucester Veterans’ Monument will be on display at the New Gloucester History Barn, Route 231, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 1.
The monument contains nearly a thousand names of those who have served from New Gloucester in the U.S. armed forces since the Revolution. The display is free and open to the public
Red Cross blood drive set on June 5
AUBURN — Central Maine Orthopaedics will partner with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive at their office, 690 Minot Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Donations will take place inside the Red Cross bus. All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free day pass to a state park, and may enter to win a family camping package, to be chosen at the end of June.
