FARMINGTON — A Chesterville man is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 15 and is being held on $10,000 cash bail at the Franklin County Jail.
Franklin County detectives arrested Jason Bergeron, 36, Monday on a felony charge of gross sexual assault against a minor, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Tuesday.
A conviction on the charge carries up to 30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $50,000.
If Bergeron does not make bail Tuesday, he is expected to go before a judge Wednesday at a Farmington court.
The case is ongoing and still under investigation, Nichols said.
