Herbert Williams, Raymond Pine and Fred Noyes, three young men about 20 years of age, were arraigned before Judge Webber in the Auburn municipal, Wednesday morning, on the charge of vagrancy. All three pleaded guilty to the charge and were sentenced to 10, 8 and 5 days, respectively, in the county jail. These vagrants were three of a gang of five for which the Auburn police were searching Tuesday afternoon in the Park Hill vicinity, the other two escaped. It was the hope of Judge Webber that in sentencing the prisoners for different lengths of time they would be separated.

When gathered in each and every one advanced the information that they were on their way to Aroostook county to secure work harvesting the annual crop of potatoes. Deputy Davis told them they could tell it to the judge, Thursday morning.

There has been talk of a shopping center in the areas. However, the Franklin Co., which owns the land, has not divulged its plans.

One week before the start of school, officials are still awaiting the delivery of four portable classrooms needed because of overcrowding at Fairview and Washburn elementary schools in Auburn. The classrooms were originally expected earlier in the summer. Delivery five days before the start of school will cut close the time needed to furnish and prepare the new rooms before school begins Sept. 6, said Schools Superintendent Roy Loux.
