Frank Edwards of South Poland, who works for the Shakers, last week was driving a three-year old bull into the barn when the bull turned on him. He prodded him the best he could with a pitch fork, but the bull was following him up, when he slipped down and the bull pinned him to the ground, but fortunately his horns straddled his body. A boy who was present went to the rescue with a pitch fork and the bull turned on him. He made an outcry which brought another man to the scene and the three managed to drive the bull into the barn. It is hoped that Mr. Edwards is not seriously hurt altho he is quite sore and lame.

A million and a half dollar Holiday Inn will be constructed in Auburn on a 62-acre tract of land just south of the Auburn exit of the Maine Turnpike, it was announced last night at a dinner meeting of the Auburn Business Development Corp. at the Phil-O-Mar restaurant. The new inn, largest of its kind to be constructed in this section of Maine, will be so located that it will take advantage of the natural topography of the tract of land and be visible from both the Maine Turnpike and Washington Street. The 120-room inn will be complete with three banquet and dining rooms, providing meeting places of business and social groups.

EDITORIAL — The Lewiston School Committee has come up with an innovative idea that should not only enable it to better understand the city’s elementary schools, but also encourage the public to get more involved in school committee matters. The school committee has decided to hold every other regular meeting during the school year in a different public school in the city. Committee members will have the opportunity to meet staff at the different locations and tour the schools themselves. The public should not pass up the opportunity to get further involved with this new avenue of communication as well. This opportunity, of course, is always available, but the new approach by the committee seems to facilitate discussion even more. Other school committees should take example from Lewiston’s new nuts-and-bolts type of representation.
