1929 – 2013

LEWISTON — Lorette Lajoie Murphy, 84, a resident of Seminole, Fla. passed away on Oct. 22, at the Marshwood Health Care Facility.

Born in Lewiston on Aug. 15, 1929, the daughter of Laurent and Juliette (Gendron) Lajoie. She was living with her brother, Michel and his wife in Lewiston due to her illness. She married Paul Asselin in 1947, after their marriage they moved to Connecticut where she became a beautician. Lorette moved to Newark, Del. in the early 1960s where she became a copartner in a construction company until she sold her holdings in the early 1970s. She then moved to Florida and married her second husband, Edward Murphy Jr., a retired navel officer and insurance agent. While in Florida, she also worked for a large new car dealership. She loved to exercise, was an avid golfer and she also did beautiful needlework and knitting. After their retirement, she and her husband traveled to many destinations throughout Europe, Australia and China.

She leaves behind three brothers, Laurent (Larry) and Rejane (Vachon) Lajoie of Lewiston, Marcel (Mike) Lajoie and companion, Dot Richie, of Auburn, Michel (Mike) A. Lajoie and Rita J. (Ouellette) Lajoie of Lewiston; and a brother-in-law Raymond Marcotte of Lewiston. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Murphy Jr.; her mother and farther; and a sister, Theresa Marcotte.
