OLD TOWN — A 32-year-old Bangor man was killed Thursday after he fell from the roof of a building he was working on.

The victim’s name was withheld Thursday night to give family members a chance to make their notifications, Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey said in a news release.

The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. at 601 Stillwater Ave., Hashey said.

The initial investigation indicated that the victim was working with a crew that was installing a roof on an addition to an existing commercial building.

He lost his balance and fell head-first more than 15 feet to the concrete below, Hashey said. Efforts to revive the man were not successful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation will continue with assistance from the State Medical Examiner’s Office, Hashey said. Police will also be working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on the investigation.

According to an officer at the scene, the incident is considered an accidental death.

Old Town Police were assisted by members of the Orono Police Department and the Maine State Police.
