LEWISTON — Guru P. Mohanty, M.D., a cardiac electrophysiologist, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center medical staff. He is practicing with Central Maine Heart Associates in Lewiston.

Cardiac electrophysiology is a subspecialty of cardiology concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of disturbances in the heart’s electrical function.

Prior to joining the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical community, Mohanty completed a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Lahey Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in Burlington, Mass. Lahey Clinic is a Tufts University School of Medicine teaching hospital.

A graduate of Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., he earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia

Mohanty is certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
