Look Good, Feel Better
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free appearance improvement workshop for cancer patients and survivors. “Look Good, Feel Better” will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
The American Cancer Society program helps patients cope with changes in appearance related to cancer and treatment. Participants receive free makeup and learn how to use the cosmetics to look and feel their best. The program is facilitated by Carlene Sperry and Shannon Cadman.

Fortier Council meets Jan. 6
LEWISTON — Members of Royal Arcanum- Dr. Paul J. Fortier Chapter No. 52 will meet, weather permitting, at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Lewiston Memorial Armory, 195 Central Ave.

Yoga workshop Jan 6 at CMMC
LEWISTON — Certified yoga instructor Marcy Covey will lead a 90-minute yoga workshop from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in the CMMC Health and Fitness Center, 12 High St.
There will be a small fee for participation.

‘Legendary Locals’ author to speak
AUBURN — Author Maxwell Mogensen will talk about the region’s history in his new book, “Legendary Locals of Androscoggin County,” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Auburn Public Library.
Mogensen, a reporter and freelancer for the Sun Journal since 2005, uses archival images, photographs from local historical and academic collections, and personal photographs to relate the stories of the men and women who shaped Androscoggin County. Featured historical figures include Francis E. Stanley, Benjamin Bates, Edward Little, Rita Dube and sports heroes like Joey Gamache.
Dempsey Center offers exercise class
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free six-week exercise class for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Fit and Flexible” will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 7 through Feb. 11, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
Health and fitness specialist Michele Lamare will lead the class focusing on strength, balance and flexibility combined with light to moderate movement.

Lose with Me! program starts Jan. 15
LEWISTON — HealthSteps will hold a 12-week Lose with Me! health education and exercise program taught by Jennifer Smith.
The sessions focus on obtaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Classes will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 15 through April 2, at Saint-Hyacinthe Conference Room, 96 Campus Ave.
