Reports of people soliciting funds and collecting old clothes, et cetera, with the assertion that they are for the Salvation Army, continue to be received by Capt. Norris G. Wood and others connected with the Salvation Army in Lewiston. Since the announcement was made of the beginning of an industrial work in Lewiston, under the direction of the Salvation Army, it is evident that imposters have used this as a means for securing funds for their own use. Capt. Wood has several times been notified that teams are going about collecting clothing and other things, the drivers giving people to understand they are in the employ of the Salvation Army.

A new wholesale meat, poultry, provision and canned good distributor will open its doors, in Lewiston on Jan. 20, according to Thomas E. Lynch, local manager for Wilson and Co. which formerly made its Maine headquarters in Waterville. The concern, moving from Waterville to Lewiston, has taken over the property formerly occupied by the now defunct Maine Food Plan at 1515 Lisbon St. Wilson and Co. employs 17 people at Waterville, and, according to Lynch, may add a couple more people to its staff here in Lewiston.

Seven people were arrested early Monday morning after they refused to quiet down their party at a Lewiston address. Police said they were called to the location at about 3:30 a.m. Monday on a complaint of a loud party with a loud stereo. When police arrived, the occupants of the apartment refused to open the door to officers, who warned them to keep the noise down, and that if police received any other calls about the party, arrests would be made. About three minutes after police left, they received another complaint and returned, arresting seven people, who were all charged with failure to disperse.
