1935 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Clayton B. Campbell, 78, formerly of Roxbury Road in Mexico, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris, following a long illness.

He was born in Portland on Dec. 8, 1935, a son of Berton and Clara (Lawler) Campbell.

Clayton attended St. Athanasius School and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1954, and later attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, graduating in 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958.

Clayton was employed for many years with the Rumford Paper Mill. He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and the VFW.

Clayton was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

Surviving are his daughter, Nina Langervin and husband, Dan, of Dixfield; stepsons, Randy Brown and wife, Mary, of Rumford, and Buddy Brown of Rumford; a sister, Jeanette M. Dunfey and husband, Robert, of Portsmouth, N.H.; best friend, Ruth Theriault of Mexico.

He was predeceased by his parents.
