LEWISTON — A national health care credentialing organization has named a Central Maine Healthcare nurse educator as an approved accreditation reviewer.

Registered nurse Robin Gilbert has been accepted as a reviewer for Pathway to Excellence, a professional nursing standards and performance program. Gilbert is regional staff development manager for Central Maine Medical Center, Rumford Hospital and Bridgton Hospital.

Developed and administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the Pathway to Excellence accreditation program promotes hospital environments that advance outstanding nursing care. Only 112 hospitals nationwide have attained this accreditation.

Rumford Hospital was the first hospital in Maine to achieve Pathway to Excellence accreditation in 2012. Gilbert was the hospital’s Pathway to Excellence coordinator when this accreditation was earned.

Gilbert has some 35 years experience in nursing. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Curry College in Milton, Mass., and her master’s degree in nursing from St. Joseph College in Windham. She is certified in emergency nursing and pediatric emergency nursing. She has served in several nursing management roles, including emergency department manager at both Rumford Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center.
