LISBON — The town is one plow truck short after fire unexpectedly erupted in the public works garage Sunday.
The call came in just after 10 a.m., an hour after public works drivers had finished plowing.
“The garage was in order with nothing out of the ordinary when the foreman turned off the lights and locked the door,” Fire Chief Sean Galipeau said.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke. He said it took a half-hour to knock out the fire.
There were no injuries, though the plow truck was a total loss.
It will be hard to pinpoint the cause, Galipeau said, due to the severity of the damage to the truck.
Staff and contractors were immediately on scene to start cleanup and assess repairs to the building.
