PORTLAND — A new support group, the Maine Brain Aneurysm Support Group, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on the last Friday of each month starting Feb. 28 at Dana Health Education Center Room 7, Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall St.

Meetings will offer information, education, encouragement and understanding to all individuals who have been affected by a brain aneurysm.

Survivors, family members, caregivers and anyone interested are welcome to attend. Each meeting will have a guest speaker that will give a short presentation followed by discussion.

These meetings will not offer specific medical advice but peer support and education.

March 28: New technology in aneurysm treatment with Dr. Robert Ecker

April 25: Memory strategies

May 30: Fatigue Strategies

Future topics include depression and how to cope, learning the “new self,” fitness and nutrition, caregiver challenges and more.

The group is sponsored by Maine Medical Partners – Neurology and Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness, organizers of the annual KAT-Walk and Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness of Portland.
