Corned beef dinner is Friday at VFW

AUBURN — A public corned beef dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at VFW Post 1603, 588 Minot Ave.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3 under age 12.

School plans student/adult competition

LISBON — Open Door Christian Academy will hold an “Are You Smarter Than an Open Door Patriot?” competition similar to the popular “Are You Smarter Than a 1st Grader?” show, at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at 26 Gartley St.

Elementary students will compete against adults to see who is smarter. The last time the school put on this program the students won hands down.

Christian Skate Night is March 16

TOPSHAM — Christian Skate Night, sponsored by Grace Community Chapel in West Gardiner, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, march 16, at Topsham Roller World, 20 Atwood Drive. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

In the case of inclement weather, the skate night will be Monday, March 17.

Cost is $5, which includes regular skates; inline skates are $2 extra.

Alzheimer’s program on financial planning

LEWISTON — The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter will present the free workshop, “Legal and Financial Planning,” from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, March 17, at SeniorsPlus on Falcon Road.

The legal and financial planning education program will provide information for families and individuals dealing with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease makes planning for the future more important than ever. Concerns about care provision and programs that can help offset costs mean that families need accurate information about legal and financial planning specific to the disease.

This interactive two-part program will give attendees a chance to learn about important legal and financial issues to consider, how to put plans in place, and how to access legal and financial resources.
