PARIS — Evangeline Kim of Paris, a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, has been selected to receive the 2014 Principal’s Award.

High School Principal Ted Moccia made the announcement this week.

The award is sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association and is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Moccia said Kim has distinguished herself as a leader at OHCHS and has excelled in the classroom and through her performances in the music department at OHCHS during the past four years.

Kim is the salutatorian for the Class of 2014.

“She exemplifies what we want all our students to be at OHCHS,” Moccia said. “Her work ethic, her participation and achievements in co-curricular activities and her high academic achievement over the course of her high-school career make her a very deserving recipient. Evangeline is the kind of student that makes me proud to be her principal.”

Kim is the daughter of Myung and Jacqueline Kim of Paris.

Kim, Moccia and other award winners, along with their principals, will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 5.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.

McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association. This year, an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament and support from Berlin City Auto Group.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
