Hebron Elementary School earned approximately $40 from the 175 hops tallied by 6-year-old Eric Mason in one minute at the hop-a-thon Wednesday night for grades K-3. The event was to raise money for a school field trip to Portland. More than two dozen students participated by getting pledges from parents and friends for each hop they made during a minute. David Mason, Eric’s father, pledged five cents a hop and from that amount, plus others the youngster received, his 175 hops netted the school $40. Mason had also pledged to donate five cents per 155 hops made by his other son. “I think they tricked me. During a practice session at school that afternoon the boys said they only did around 40 hops,” laughed Mason.
