AUBURN — Guardian Neighborhood Watch of Auburn will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Boys and Girls Club, 43 Second Ave.

The speaker will be Lt. Anthony Harrington of the Auburn Police Department. Harrington will be the department’s liaison for the neighborhood watch.

Neighborhood watches help build stronger neighborhoods, which is the best defense against crime. Watch programs reduce the opportunity for crime in a neighborhood. By implementing basic crime prevention techniques, watching out for one another and reporting suspicious activity to police, neighbors create a unified front against crime.

This start-up meeting formulates a mission statement and establishes priorities or goals for the organization.

Neighbors are invited to attend the presentation on residential and vehicles security, personal safety and an overview of what the Auburn Police Department offers citizens.

Neighborhood Watch signs are then posted to identify the block.
