NAMI family course postponed

FARMINGTON — The NAMI Family-to-Family course that was to have started on April 24 in Farmington has been postponed due to lack of enough registrations. It will be offered as soon as there are sufficient people to take it.

The course is free and is for family and caregivers of people with mental illness.

North Jay Grange meets May 13

JAY — The North Jay Grange No. 10 will have Legislative and Agricultural program at its meeting at 7 p.m.. Tuesday, May 13, at the Grange Hall on Route 17/East Dixfield Road.

Upper Dam construction topic

OQUOSSOC — Todd Wynn, vice president of Brookfield Renewable Energy, will be the guest speaker at the RRG&SA May monthly meeting on Thursday, May 15.

Wynn will provide an update on the progress of the ongoing Upper Dam construction.

The group’s monthly meetings are open to the public. The potluck dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a short club meeting and then the Upper Dam presentation.

Mt. Blue Garden Club plant sale

FARMINGTON — Members of the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club will hold their annual plant sale at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, May 17, at the Meetinghouse Park.

Many varieties of perennial plants will be offered at reasonable prices, along with some annuals too. This is their only fundraiser from which a scholarship is offered to a Mt. Blue senior who is going to college to study horticulture.

Proceeds are also used to plant flowers on the courthouse lawn and the WWI Memorial garden.

Book sale benefits Wilton Library

WILTON — A book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Western Maine Enterprises, 128 Weld St.

There will be a big assortment of books of all types for readers of all ages and tastes, including a special collection on African-American history, old song books and many cook books. There also will be videos and audio books.

Pricing is by donation and all proceeds support the collections and programs of the Wilton Free Public Library.

Tyngtown Club plant, bake sale

WILTON — Tyngtown Club Annual Plant and Bake Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, at Academy Hill School Cafeteria, 560 Depot St. Come early for best selections.

There will be flower and vegetable seedlings and perennials, locally grown and potted, as well as herbs and hard-to-find specialty plants. Pies, breads and many other home-baked goodies will be offered.

Community Band seeks members

JAY — Spruce Mountain Community Band is calling all young and old band musicians in the Spruce Mountain Area. The Community Band will be reuniting for the summer for fun nights of rehearsals and performances through the summer.

The band will perform on July 3 before the fireworks and on Aug. 27 at the gazebo in Livermore Falls.

Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. starting May 21 (except for May 28; that rehearsal will be on May 27) at the Spruce Mountain Middle School band room in Jay.
