BUCKFIELD — Owen Bennett went 3-for-3 from the plate as Buckfield rolled to a 15-1 victory over Greenville in a five-inning Western Class D baseball quarterfinal.

Bennett crushed a pair of doubles while batting in three runs for the Bucks (10-4). Bennett and Jonah Williams combined to throw nine strikeouts in the five innings played. Williams, along with Tyler Vallee and Jon Randolph, chipped in two hits apiece from the plate.

Matt DiAngelo placed a double for Greenville, while Howard Stone received the loss on the mound. Greenville wraps up their season at 7-8.

Sacopee Valley 8, Lisbon 6

SOUTH HIRAM —  Despite a three-run rally by Lisbon in the sixth frame, Sacopee Valley hung on to post an 8-6 victory in Western Class C quarterfinal action Thursday. 

Kyle Jordan led the Hawks with a two-run home run in the fifth. Matt Shea chipped in with an RBI double in a well-balanced attack.

The Greyhounds (11-7) were paced by Noah Francis (fifth frame) and Tucker Brannon with home runs (two-run blast in the sixth). Joe Philbrick and Francis each pounded out a pair of hits.

Anthony Haskell earned the win after working the first five frames, while Francis suffered the loss after relieving started Tyler Halls. 

Softball

Searsport 4, Buckfield 3

SEARSPORT — Brittany Ward pitched well for Searsport, denying a late run to secure a 4-3 victory for Searsport over Buckfield in a Western Class D softball quarterfinal.

Ward aided her own efforts by smacking a single and a double on the day for the Vikings (9-8). The junior pitcher got the final batter of the day to fly out with runners on second and third, giving Searsport the edge. Brianna Damon chipped in a double for the Bucks (8-7), while Kaylee Litchfield belted a pair of hits.

Kelly Charity received the loss pitching, with Abby Shields coming on in relief.
