BATH — Band Cilantro will finesse the Friday, July 18 Bath ArtWalk with a concert at The Chocolate Church Arts Center. The 3rd Friday Concert Series continues with this happy blend of five lifelong musicians who have found great comfort and satisfaction in making classic folk music together. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. show that begins with individuals sets from musician Randy Lindsey and singer songwriter Caroline Cotter.

Cilantro is comprised of Carl Schlick, the innovative drummer, who originally met singer and guitar player Earl Bigelow in the late 1970s. The two have played together steadily on the midcoast and subsequently throughout New England. They are joined by visionary saxophone player Randy Dyer who has emerged as a silky and powerful soloist, sharing and playing against Bigelow’s definitive guitar. Elna Joseph, who plays the bass with Cajun flair, embraces a very wide range of style in the rhythm section with Schlick. Margot Frost is the vibrant, happy and smiling face in front of the band. Her smoky, powerful vocals bring life to old classics and contemporary rock songs alike.

Lindsey will showcase his songwriting style that utilizes different tunings and non-conventional chords with contemplative themes.

Cotter is an accomplished songwriter who sets her songs to guitar and tenor banjo. But it is her luminous soprano voice that captivates each audience she performs for. With playfulness and wit, she brings each audience on a journey around the world, and into the depths of the human heart.

Tickets are $10 and available online, at the box office 207-442-8455 or at the door.

The Chocolate Church is at 804 Washington Street. Their art gallery is one of the featured stops for the ArtWalk. Current exhibition “The View Beyond” features pastel, oil, acrylic and encaustic works by Maine artists David Costello, Elizabeth Newman, kdb, Rebecca Kuprowicz and Sara Cox.
