“I have been painting for most of my adult life, usually people or objects. People paintings, not portraits, are an expression of their feeling for or connection with the moment. Landscapes are rare among my works. I concentrate on small areas or objects such as shorelines or old boats.
“I take thousands of photos for a wealth of information. I feel free to interpret and rearrange but always try to express the reason a subject attracted my attention,” said Laverdiere.
The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Also, the Matolscy Center, at 480 Main Street, is open Thursday through Saturday from 1-4 p.m. with an exhibition of WMAG founders, including works by Lajos Matolscy.
