HARTFORD — The Board of Selectmen on Thursday sent the revised policy on road construction bids back to the Road Committee for more work.
The board question the statement that contractors should own their equipment.
Selectmen will review the policy and approve it before sending it with bid requests.
The board also reviewed the amended road standards ordinance, which has not been cleared by an attorney.
Board Chairwoman Lee Holman questioned why the ordinance does not allow using plastic culverts. The board revised the document to clarify that approved plastic, double-lined culverts are allowed.
Holman suggested sending the revised ordinance to a lawyer for approval.
The only disputed item on the revised building permit ordinance was whether to require a permit to build a sugarhouse.
Holman said some of them can be pretty elaborate and should require a building permit.
In other business, Road Commissioner Jeremy Johnson reported that the Gurney Hill project is complete except for four more culverts farther up the hill, which the board approved installing.
The board reviewed permits for a garage and daylight basement on Bryant Drive for Andrew Holtof and a chalet house on Pine Shore Drive for Mike Brostolan.
The board also approved obtaining signs for a bus stop on Town Farm Road.
