SMMS conferences, book fair

JAY — Parent/teacher conferences will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Thursday, Oct. 16.

Contact Spruce Mountain Middle School’s main office at 897-4319 to set up an appointment to meet with your child’s teachers.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library from Oct. 14-21. During these dates students are welcome to visit and purchase books at assigned times throughout the school day. Parents may also shop the sale during the parent/teacher conferences.

Parents were asked to attend a mandatory parent laptop meeting in September. Parents who were unable to attend the meeting and who wish to grant their child permission to bring their assigned laptop home, may contact the school to schedule a time to view the required “Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety Video.”

School pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21.

North Chesterville Homemakers

CHESTERVILLE — On Thursday, Oct. 16, the North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at the Chesterville Town Office at 7 p.m.

The topics of the meeting are to finish the 2015 program planning, hold election of officers, have the collection of dues and work on the two Rotary Tree projects.

Free college planning workshop

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Wilton Career Center, 865 US Route 2 East.

All MEOC services are free.

The starting point for all participants is the Essentials of College Planning, a free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.

The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required.
