AUBURN — Preschool teachers, childcare providers, librarians and representatives from other organizations serving children are invited to a free training on developing story time activities for kids.

“Story Time Success: What’s Behind the Magic?” is a half-day class providing practical advice in developing activities to engage kids in reading.

Shannon Schinagl, Maine State Library early literacy consultant, will share best practices for hosting story time programming and provide information about resources to help participants with early literacy exercises.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Auburn Public Library. Lunch will be provided at no charge.

Although there is no cost to attend the class, registration is required. Register online at evanced.info/maine/evanced/eventsignup.asp?ID=2506.

Participants not representing a library should enter the name of their organization in the “library name” field in the registration form. Individuals with special dietary needs should indicate as such on the registration form so that accommodations can be made for lunch.

For more information, contact Shannon Schinagl at 207-287-5660.
