Adult ed painting classes

AUBURN — The Auburn Adult and Community Education program is offering a second class of The Art of Watercolor with art instructor Barbara Hathaway, Painter of Sunsets.

The class will be for five weeks starting Oct. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Edward Little High School, Room 144. The cost is $66. Techniques and tips to make landscapes with sky, sunsets, mountains, trees, water, reflections and details will be explained with a demo to show the use of brushes and water color washes.

This class is for beginners to semi-pro.

AARP to hold community conversation

LEWISTON — Financial security and health care are just some of the issues Mainers are concerned about heading into Election Day.

Join AARP Maine at the Franco-American Heritage Center for an afternoon community conversation. There will be updates on key issues such as Social Security and age-friendly communities.

Public ham dinner at American Legion

AUBURN — A public boiled ham supper will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, at American Legion, 426 Washington St.

Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under. All desserts are homemade.

Christie, Schalit at Great Falls Forum

LEWISTON — The Great Falls Forum lecture series will present John Christie and Naomi Schalit of the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, speaking on “The Role of Investigative Reporting in Maine’s Democracy.”

The free program will take place from noon to 1 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 17, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

LEWISTON — A prophecy seminar, “Revelation of Hope,” with Rick Kuntz, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Oct. 17-19, at The ARK, 791 Lisbon St.

Friday’s them will be “Hope When The World Is Spinning.” Saturday’s discussion will be on “The New World Order” and Sunday’s topic will be “Revelation Exposes Global Worship Deception.”

Bean supper at Turner Universalist

TURNER — A bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the Turner Center Universalist Church, across from the Leavitt Institute Building on Route 117 in Turner Center.

Menu will include two kinds of beans, red hot dogs, coleslaw, rolls, beverages and pies. Donations which will be used for the upkeep of the historical church will be greatly appreciated.
