WELLESLEY, Mass. — Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation as awarded grants to 52 not-for-profit community garden programs in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Launched in March, the grant program will support local community garden programs throughout the four New England states as part of Harvard Pilgrim Foundation’s Healthy Food Fund.

In Maine, $39,926 in grants were awarded. Local recipients included:

• City of Auburn: New community garden for low-income residents in collaboration with St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, $5,000.

• Somali Bantu Community of Maine, Lewiston: Garden expansion and supplies, $5,000.
