ANSWER: Have you heard of the Uptown Cruizahs Car Club? They meet at Tractor Supply on Route 26 in Oxford on Mondays from 6-8 p.m., weather permitting. The next cruise night is tonight. The club says to “bring the whole family and enjoy good food, fine music by Red Wing, and take a stroll down memory lane. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I consider myself a beginner bicyclist. Are there any groups that meet regularly during the summer to bike together? Thank you. — On wheels, Lewiston.

ANSWER: The Maine Cycling Club has developed a series of supported rides for beginners to learn (or re-learn) safe road-riding techniques. Rides will begin Thursday, June 4, and will be held every Thursday thereafter throughout the summer. Rides are 45-60 minutes in length and will be held to a comfortable pace. Rides start at 6 p.m., leaving from the Bates College/Russell Street parking lot near the outdoor track.

MCC club members will serve as ride leaders and will demonstrate safe group road-riding techniques. Families welcome; children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent. There is no cost to participate and it is not necessary to be a member of the Maine Cycling Club to ride. However, non-members must sign a waiver of liability form.

All riders must wear a helmet. All types of bikes are welcomed. For more information, visit mainecyclingclub.com or contact Leslie Shields at lesshields1@gmail.com.
