Modern romance to be explored

LEWISTON — The state of romance and how to keep it vibrant will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m.

The program, titled “Modern Romance: That Crazy Thing Called Love,” features a filmed interview with cowboy humorist and performer Gary McMahan as well as his wife of more than 20 years.

“Relationships are living things,” says McMahan. “You can kill or feed them, and the romance is in the day-to-day decisions you make.”

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available. Lifetree Café is located at 1919 Lisbon Road.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation on life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.

YWCA to host home pool safety class

LEWISTON — The YWCA will host an American Red Cross Home Pool Safety Class from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.

This class is designed to teach homeowners with backyard pools to recognize, prevent and respond to emergencies.

The class will describe appropriate safety practices and rules that should be in place and enforced at home pools and how to perform reaching, throwing and wading assists.

Those wishing to take the class may register now. Suggested donation is $20 for class.

Alzheimer’s information session July 21

AUBURN — Auburn Public Library will host an information session on Alzheimer’s disease from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21.

Attendees will learn how the Early Stage Social Engagement Program and other Alzheimer’s Association services may help them or their loved ones living with dementia make the most of the time available to them.
