1934 – 2015

AUBURN — Arthur H. Myrick, 81, of 25 Carson St., Auburn, died Sunday, July 5, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lewiston on March 8, 1934, he was the son of Arthur F. and Ida V. Burgess Myrick. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1952. On May 4, 1957, he married the former Maureen Michael. They were happily married for 55 years until Maureen passed on May 19, 2012.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a tractor-trailer driver for Armour, Sanborn and APA Transport. He had a lifelong love of cars and enjoyed attending car shows and working on classics, especially his “old yellow car.” In his younger years, he enjoyed snowmobiling and bowling, and he was an avid Boston sports fan. In his later years, mornings often found him having coffee with his friends at Tim Hortons in Auburn.

The memories of his quick wit and funny stories continue to make us smile. Survivors include a son, Joseph and wife, Maureen, of Lewiston; two daughters, Susan and husband, John Martins, of Auburn, and Catherine Roberts-Morin and husband, Michael Morin, of Auburn; two brothers, Bruce and wife, Rita, of Sabattus, and Dennis and wife, Keri, of Auburn; two sisters, Carol Randall of Bowdoinham, and Sharon Rafnell of Topsham; five grandchildren; Jacob Roberts, Elizabeth Morin, Katie and Matt Myrick and Nicholas Fess; and one great-grandchild.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Steve Myrick.

The family thanks the staffs of St. Mary’s Hospital and the Hospice House for the loving care they gave Harry during his final days.
