LEWISTON — Steel Service Center Inc., a leading supplier of metal products in Maine and New England for more than 50 years, has been acquired by American Steel and Aluminum LLC of South Portland. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Located at 1750 Lisbon St., Steel Service Center has been owned and operated by the Roy family since 1960. Bob Roy Jr., the current owner, grew up in the business formerly owned by his father, Bob Roy Sr. Through the years, Steel Service has been a key supplier of metals to ship builders, papermakers, manufacturers and fabricators throughout the state of Maine.

Roy will continue to support the team through the transition, but plans to spend more time promoting his other businesses, including Ironhorse Court and the Royal Oak Room, a premier event and conference center in Lewiston.
