Anita White to lead sermon

PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street welcomes Anita White to the pulpit for its Sunday, Nov. 15, service. 

The title of White’s sermon is “In the Fog.” Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd. Coffee, friendship and fellowship will follow the worship service.

Childcare is available and the First Universalist Church is wheelchair-accessible.

LISBON FALLS — Lisbon Falls Church of the Nazarene is preparing for the Christmas season.

The church will celebrate Operation Christmas Child Monday, Nov. 16, to Monday, Nov. 23. 

The Hanging of the Greens will be Sunday, Nov. 29, when the church decorates for Christmas. Following the service, there will be a fellowship over a light lunch. 

The church is a traditional Christian church located at 184 Main St.

Recovery Sunday at St. Luke’s

WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High St. (on the corner of School and High streets) in Wilton will host Recovery Sunday on Nov. 22.

The 9:30 a.m. service will be themed around addiction and recovery. The Rev. Nancy Platt, a noted author and licensed addictions counselor, will preach. St. Luke’s has provided space to local AA groups for many years.

Community members, particularly those affected by addiction, are welcome to attend.

Gardiner to tell ‘Stone Soup’ tale

LEWISTON — The Calvary United Methodist Church welcomes pulpit guest the Rev. Pat Hunter Gardiner at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22.

An interfaith chaplain and member of Calvary, Gardiner will address the issue of sharing one’s time, talents and treasures by telling the traditional folk tale “Stone Soup” and connecting its message with more modern times. She believes that every person has her or his own unique gift to share, and that people can all help make homes, city and world a better place.

Gardiner is chair of Calvary’s City Mission program, which offers two free meals each week to the church’s downtown neighbors.

The church is located in the heart of downtown Lewiston “on the triangle” at 59 Sabattus St. and is a reconciling church where every person is always welcome.
