LEWISTON — The mid-coast a cappella vocal ensemble VoXX: Voice of Twenty will celebrate the arrival of 2016 with the first of its annual January concerts, at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St.

“Music for the New Year” features midwinter and Epiphany themes with music that ranges from solemn to upbeat, sacred to secular. VoXX’s repertoire covers both a broad spectrum of time — from medieval through the present — and of style –from Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony through contemporary works. The program includes works by Victoria, Duruflé, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Byrd, Hassler and more. Donations will benefit the basilica’s organ restoration fund.
