1929 – 2016

PORTLAND — Joseph-Paul Eugene Maurice Doyon, 87, of Portland died Monday, April 25, at Maine Medical Center in Portland with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 5, 1929, a son of the late Napoleon and Corrine (Mathieu) Doyon. He was educated in Lewiston and went on to work in local mills. After that, he was a security guard at Monmouth Mart, then a sales clerk for Peck’s, and later worked for St. Mary’s as a custodian. After retiring, he received his private investigator license and worked part time doing that.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106 at Holy Family and later joined the Westbrook council.

Joseph enjoyed acting and his favorite character was Dracula: He even acted for the governor at one time. He also enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, going to the movies and dancing. His favorite movies were all of the James Bond “007” films and he enjoyed a good martini, shaken not stirred, of course.

He leaves his wife, Patricia Doyon of Westbrook; his four children, Elizabeth C. Cantin and her husband, David, of Lewiston, Gerard P. Doyon and his wife, Lisa, of Texas, Dennis G. Doyon of Lisbon and his companion, Elaine Brackett, of Auburn, and David G. Doyon of Standish; two stepdaughters, Holly J. Chamard of Limington, and Kelly Ann Chamard of Bar Mills; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by an infant sister; and his first wife, Constance Doyon, in 2005.
