LEWISTON — Laurier and Carol (Donohue) Proteau recently celebrated 50 years of loving, caring and sharing, They were married on May 14, 1966, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lewiston.

There was a celebration gathering for them on May 14 at Fusion Ramada Inn breakfast buffet with family and close friends. The couple are both from Lewiston and have lived there all their lives.

Mr. Proteau retired from the Lewiston Sun Journal and Mrs. Proteau from St. Mary’s Health Systems. Since then, they are “snowbirds” — wintering in Sarasota, Fla., where they have made many friends.

They have three children, Stacy Proteau (Gordon Libby), who organized the get-together, and Keith Proteau (Stacey Millett) who all live in Lewiston and Brian Proteau who lives in Texas; four grandchildren, Devin and Andrew Proteau and Jacob and Cooper Millett; and three great-granddaughters, Lillian, Adelyn and Alexandria, who live in Texas.
