DIXFIELD — Funeral services for Robert John Riley Jr., “Bob,” “Bobby”, of Dixfield, were held Friday, Aug. 12, at 11  a.m., from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., Dixfield, with the Rev. Eva Thompson officiating.

A personal eulogy, written by his mother, Patricia Bassett, was read at the service. His fellow fire department members, as well as members of the Rumford, Mexico, Peru and Canton Fire Departments, and area tow truck companies, followed in a cortege to Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield, escorted by the Dixfield Police Department and fellow members of the Dixfield Fire Deptartment in the lead with the antique fire truck. Also represented were firefighters from Farmington, Roxbury and Portsmouth, N.H.

Family pallbearers, also supported by the Dixfield Fire Department, were Robert J. Riley III, Jason LaPointe, Pete Cyr, “Bub” Robert Desroches, “Duck” Ronald Desroches, Russ Bassett and Jakob LaPointe. The committal service concluded with Fire Chief Scott Dennett requesting the “last call,” the ceremonial ringing of the truck bell.

Following services, all were invited to a comfort reception hosted by the Fire Department Auxiliary at the Dixfield Fire Station.
