American Legion car wash
FARMINGTON — Post 28, American Legion, is sponsoring a car wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at 140 Farmington Falls Road.
Donations are accepted. Proceeds will go to veterans’ programs.
Finnish-American Heritage Society meeting
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at 8 Maple St.
Following the short business meeting, Tamara Cohen will present a program on the history of the sauna.
The public is welcome.
Oxford County Democrats to meet
RUMFORD — The Oxford County Democrats will hold a business meeting, providing an update on the final weeks of the campaign, on Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Rumford Democratic Office, 1125 Route Two.
There will be an opportunity to do phoning and canvassing at doors from the office starting at 11 a.m. The meeting will take place at 1 p.m., and will be followed by more phone and canvass shifts.

Pre-school story time at Ludden
DIXFIELD — Ludden Memorial Library will resume Story Time for area pre-school-aged children Monday, Sept. 19, at 42 Main St.
Story Time will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday at the library except for holidays or school closings.
There will be stories, crafts, & healthy snacks will be served.

SMH offering breastfeeding class
NORWAY — The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will host a breastfeeding class for new and experienced mothers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the boardroom at 181 Main St.
Gail Martel, RN, ICBLC, will lead the class. It will cover the facts of breastfeeding and help dispel the myths about it. Attendees will learn skills for successful breastfeeding. This class will help make attendees aware of the support services available to breastfeeding mothers.
Fee is $10 per couple, and preregistration with payment is required.

RHS to see fire department history
RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will hold its first meeting of fall at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Town Hall auditorium.
The speaker will be Chief Robert Chase of Rumford Fire Department. He will discuss the history of the department since the early 1900s. The Department has had numerous fire chiefs over the years, and their photos can be seen at the Rumford Historical Society’s Lufkin Museum in Rumford Center.
The program will be preceded by a short business meeting, and light refreshments were be served after Chase’s presentation.
The event is open to the public. All persons must enter and leave the Town Hall through the River Street entrance.
Crafters, vendors sought for fair
WILTON — Wilton Parent Teacher Forum is seeking crafters and vendors for its annual craft fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Academy Hill School, 585 Depot St.
The cost is $20 per table.
