Franco Center hosting N.H. day trip 

LEWISTON — Mitch Thomas, executive director at the Gendron Franco Center, and Bert Dutil, popular bus trip leader, will lead a day-long bus trip to Indian Heat Resort and the Christmas Loft in New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The cost of the trip is $72 per person and will depart at 6:45 a.m. from the center, 46 Cedar St. The group will return to Lewiston by 6 p.m. the same day.

The ticket includes transportation to the resort, a buffet dinner and dessert, music and dancing, admission to the Christmas show, coupons for discounts in the gift shop, and free all-day parking at the Franco Center.

Coffee and breakfast snacks will be available at the Franco Center, starting at 6 a.m. Part of proceeds will benefit the nonprofit center for heritage and the performing arts.

The Ark to screen ‘VAXXED’ 

LEWISTON — The Ark & Olive Branch Café will look at the connection between vaccinations and Autism during its free showing of “VAXXED” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 791 Lisbon St.

Androscoggin Retired Educators meeting

LEWISTON — Androscoggin Retired Educators will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Ramada Inn on Pleasant Street.

The speaker for this meeting is Corley Byras, Vice-President of MEA-R.

AREA is open to all retired educators, even though who have taught outside of Maine. All are welcome.

Reservations are required. The cost for lunch is $11, and reservations should be mailed to Grace and Hugh Keene, 179 Cook St., Auburn, ME 04210 by Nov. 2.

Poland Historical Society annual meeting

POLAND — Poland Historical Society will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the old school house on Route 26 at Poland Corner.

Plans for the up coming year 2017 will be discussed along with voting of new offices. Desert will be served after the meeting. The meeting is open to everyone.
