The exam tests the knowledge and expertise of registered nurses in eight core areas of infusion therapy practice: technology and clinical applications; fluid and electrolyte balance; pharmacology; infection prevention and control; special populations; transfusion therapy; antineoplastic/biologic therapy; and parenteral nutrition. In doing so, the exam validates the extensive knowledge and skill an expert registered nurse in infusion nursing possesses.
