LEEDS — The Kennebec Land Trust will hold an afternoon of winter fun at the eighth annual Family Winter Fun Day at the Curtis Homestead Conservation Area in Leeds on Sunday, Feb. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The property is the childhood home of former Maine Gov. Kenneth M. Curtis, Rebecca Curtis Meredith and Joyce Curtis.
Participants may bring cross-country skis or snowshoes and spend the afternoon exploring the 360-acre conservation property.
Jean-Luc Theriault, KLT stewardship director, will lead a group cross-country ski on groomed trails beginning at 1:15 p.m. ?Skiers are also welcome to? set out at their own pace.
If the snow is right, participants may help build a community of snowmen. Bring biodegradable accessories to decorate the creations.
Hot chocolate, hot dogs and s’mores will be served around a bonfire in the field.
A few pairs of snowshoes for children and adults have been checked out from the Bailey Public Library in Winthrop for public use during the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
