Dirigo registering pre-K students

PERU — Dirigo Elementary School is asking parents who have children that will be 4 years of age by Oct. 15 to contact the school in regard to signing up for prekindergarten for next fall.

If you call when the school is not open, parents leave their names, the child’s name, the child’s date of birth and a mailing address.

Pre-K application packets will be mailed out to everyone on the list during the third week of April.

Legion seeks yard sale vendors

PARIS – Post No. 72, American Legion, will hold two indoor yard sales from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, March 18 and April 8, at the hall on Church Street. 

Tables may be rented for $10 each. Proceeds will benefit the Ladies Auxilary in sending local girls to Girls State.

The lunch counter will be open.

Mexico Trail Blazers to meet

MEXICO — The Mexico Trail Blazers will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall.

Nomination of officers will take place with elections at the next meeting.

Juggling workshop in Harrison 

HARRISON — Harrison Village Library will host a juggling workshop for Take Your Child to the Library Day at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.

The children’s workshop will be led by Steve Corning of Paris, who began his career studying physical comedy and improvisation at the Celebration Barn Theater. He has performed professionally at theaters and resorts across the country, and internationally aboard Disney Cruise Lines.

Lions hosting poker tourney 

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will be hold its Texas Hold’em poker tournament on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the VFW Hall on Waterford Road.

The doors will open at noon with starting time at 1 p.m. Those attending should bring their own beverages; refreshments will be available.

There will be a $55 entry fee. The proceeds will be used to help support local children programs such as eye screening for school age children, Christmas for kids and scholarships.

Valentine’s Day dinner, dance

JAY — VFW Post No. 3335 will host a Valentine’s Day dinner and dance Saturday, Feb. 11, at 64 Jewell St. 

Happy Hour with appetizers will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. The prime rib or baked chicken dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Riff Raff will perform music for the dance from 7 to 11 p.m. The evening will conclude with a champagne toast.

Reservations are required by Saturday, Feb. 4. The event is open to members and guests. Those attending must have a ticket, which cost $18 per person.

ALA-NON meetings suspended

RUMFORD — The Rumford-Mexico ALA-NON Tuesday night group meetings will be suspended through February and March.

Meetings will resume on April 4.
