Hospital Auxiliary seeks donations

RUMFORD — The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary is seeking items for its annual yard sale that will be held Saturday, May 20.

Whether it’s a single item, a room full or house full, the Auxiliary will gladly accept it. Furniture, rugs, kitchen goods, books and office items are big sellers. Major appliances and clothing are not accepted. All proceeds are donated to Rumford Hospital to continue providing quality healthcare services to the River Valley.

Members of the Auxiliary will also be at 209 Lincoln Ave. in Rumford on Friday mornings throughout May to accept donations from the public.

Sandy River Genealogical Society meeting

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Farmington Public Library .

Presenter Kathy Lynch will share her expertise on “Researching the Immigrant German Ancestors in the 18th Century.”

Lynch will include ports of embarkation and ships; Philadelphia and Newcastle arrivals; waves of immigration; hazards and blocks to immigration; reaction to immigrants; records available; and where to find them.

The public is invited to attend.

Ticket auction for Boy Scouts

PARIS — The leaders of Boy Scout Troop 130 will hosting a ticket Auction Saturday, April 1, at the Oxford Hills Middle School.

Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the drawings start at 6 p.m. 

Socrates Cafe to meet

BRIDGTON — Socrates Cafe will meet at 6:15 p.m. Monday, April 3, at the Bridgton Community Center.

The topic will be “What One Thing Do We Turn to for Joy and Gratitude?” with moderator Therese Johnson.
